Not only did Leicestershire [1] pick up their first win of the season this morning, needing only 15 minutes to polish off the 17 runs they still needed to defeat Glamorgan at Grace Road, but three of Leicestershire's side were named in England's provisional squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in September.
That doesn't quite make up for the disappointment of being knocked out of the domestic Twenty20 competition by the weather despite losing only one game in the group stage, but it helps.
With Darren Maddy having moved to Warwickshire this season, and also being widely tipped for the England side, there was a danger that we'd have another round of people saying "Leicestershire is not the county to play for if you want to get picked for England". Hopefully the selection of three Leicestershire players for the provisional side will make it a little easier for the likes of Stuart Broad to plan a future that involves both England and Leicestershire commitments.
